SmartPDFKit provides free, browser-based PDF processing tools including, but not limited to:

  • PDF merging and combining
  • PDF compression and optimization
  • Image to PDF conversion
  • PDF splitting and extraction
  • PDF page rotation

All processing occurs client-side in your web browser using JavaScript libraries. We do not upload, store, or have access to your files.

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Process files that you do not have the legal right to modify
  • Use the Service to process copyrighted materials without proper authorization
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the Service
  • Use automated systems or bots to access the Service excessively
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service

You retain all rights to the files and documents you process using our Service. You are solely responsible for:

  • The content of files you process
  • Ensuring you have the legal right to modify and process files
  • Backing up important files before processing
  • Compliance with copyright and intellectual property laws

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
  • Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or availability
  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Warranties regarding the quality of any results obtained through the Service

  • Any particular level of file size reduction in compression
  • Compatibility with all PDF specifications and standards
  • Successful processing of corrupted or non-standard PDF files

5.3 Browser Compatibility

The Service is designed to work with modern web browsers. We cannot guarantee functionality in outdated browsers or browsers with JavaScript disabled. Some features may not work on all devices or operating systems.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SmartPDFKit SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or use of our servers
  • Damages resulting from any errors, bugs, viruses, or malware
  • Damages resulting from file corruption or data loss
  • Damages from your reliance on any information obtained through the Service

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED $100 USD OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER (BUT SINCE OUR SERVICE IS FREE, THIS AMOUNT WOULD BE $0).

6.1 Your Responsibility

You agree to:

  • Maintain backups of all important files before processing
  • Verify the output of processed files before using them for critical purposes
  • Test processed files to ensure they meet your requirements
  • Use the Service at your own risk

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SmartPDFKit, its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against all claims, losses, expenses, damages, and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, resulting from:

  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Your use or misuse of the Service
  • Your violation of any laws or regulations

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, either party may initiate binding arbitration, except for disputes that may be brought in small claims court.

  • Change features, functionality, or availability of tools
